Well, with the kids back in school it is time to get our house organized and decluttered. I have sooo many cookbooks that I need to go through. I always say I am going to make a new recipe a week. It's high time I got the cookbooks out and make the recipes instead of just enjoying the pictures.
We made a new recipe from Cooking Light 5 Ingredient 15 Minute Cookbook.
The name is Deep Dish Pizza Casserole.
It calls for
1 pound of ground round
1 (15 ounce ) can chunky Italian-style tomato sauce
Cooking spray
1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough
6 (1- ounce) skices part-skim mozzarella cheese, devided
Cook meat in a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until browned, stirring until it crumbles. Drain, if necessaary and return to skillet. Add tomato sauce, and cook until heated.
While meat cooks, coat a 13 by 9 by 2 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Unroll pizza crust dough, and press into bottom and halfway up sides of baking dish. Line bottom of pizza crust with 3 slices of mozzarella cheese. Top with meat mixture.
Bake, uncovered, at 425 for 12 minutes. Top with remaining 3 cheese slices, and bake 5 additional minutes or until crust is browned and cheese melts. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
Yeild: 6 servings
The kids loved the recipe, it is a keeper. I hope you enjoy it also.
